// data recovery in newcastle upon tyne

Your city's own way in.

The population of approximately 300,000 people in Newcastle upon Tyne, combined with two major universities (Newcastle University and Northumbria University), a digital and games cluster, offshore and subsea engineering, and one of the largest professional services centres outside London produces an enormous amount of information. Much of this data would be extremely painful to lose: dissertations and research data, client work and case files, business records and family photographs (to name a few). Most of these types of data exist on disks that fail completely unexpectedly.

Most of the time, there will be no problem with the data on the hard drive. This is usually because the failure was caused by an electronic fault, a head crash or file system error rather than a failure of the actual data. All that’s needed is to carefully remove the data, which is something that our experienced engineers do every day. We’re based on the Quayside in Newcastle, therefore you can either deliver the device to us personally, or send it by post, whatever works best for you.

Data recovery since 2002. Free diagnostic report (in writing), fixed price quotation prior to commencing any work, and in most cases you only pay if we recover your data.

That is what we do, and we have been doing it from Newcastle upon Tyne since 2002. All of our recoveries are completed here at our offices by our own engineers; they never get sent to a third party. Your data never leaves the UK. We receive everything from hard drives and solid-state disks (SSDs) to USB memory sticks, SD memory cards from cameras, Apple Macintosh computers and laptops, RAID disk systems, network attached storage (NAS) units, servers and databases.

We are a locally-based business and therefore, you may choose to either visit our Newcastle upon Tyne location, Monday to Friday, 9am to 5:30pm, to personally hand in your device or send it via post, whichever is easiest for you. Regardless of how you prefer to use our services, you will receive a complimentary written diagnosis report as well as a fixed quotation prior to any work being carried out, and in most cases you only pay if we recover your data.

// sending your device in

Two simple steps.

A free diagnostic can begin once you’ve shipped your device to us. Tell us a bit about how this issue occurred; an engineer will evaluate your device and provide a confirmed written estimate of costs prior to any work being performed.

1

Send us your device

Before you post or drop off your device, please get a quote from us by phone or with the form. Once we receive your device, our recovery process can start. Safely pack your device, include your name and contact information within the packaging and ship it to us. After performing your free diagnostic, we’ll send you a written confirmation of the exact price of our services prior to starting any work.

How to pack it
  • Place the unit into a small sturdy box or a well-padded envelope.
  • It is okay to remove caddies, cables and power supplies since they are not required during the recovery process.
  • Your contact information (name, address, phone number, and e-mail) should be included in the box along with a note that indicates who sent it or by using our shipping form; then close it.

If you decide to post it, we would advise using a trackable and insured postal service. Or if you prefer to drop it off, we are open Monday to Friday, 9am to 5:30pm, and you don’t need an appointment. Just pack the unit as described in step one before dropping it off.

2

Need more information?

Would you like a little more background information prior to sending it? Fill in the form to provide more details about your problem; an engineer will evaluate it and reply with a customised quote.

An engineer reviews every enquiry personally — we usually reply within 30 minutes during the day. Prefer to call? 0191 406 1051.

Newcastle upon Tyne data recovery, answered.

We are based at Rotterdam House (2nd Floor, 116 Quayside) in central Newcastle upon Tyne, NE1 3DY. You can personally deliver your device to us Monday to Friday, 9am to 5:30pm; alternatively you can post it to us if you prefer. In either case you receive a complimentary written diagnostic report, along with a fixed quotation prior to any work being undertaken.

Yes, this is another benefit from choosing a local Newcastle based firm. Simply visit our Newcastle office during working hours (Monday to Friday, 9am to 5:30pm), with your device. If you have a laptop, NAS unit or server, then remove all hard drives from your system(s) and simply bring the drive(s), labelled. Prior to visiting please contact us so we know when to expect you and possibly provide an approximate cost.

Just about every piece of hardware that holds data (hard disks, SSDs, USB flash sticks, SD and camera cards, Macs and MacBooks, Windows laptops and PCs, external disks, RAID systems, NAS boxes, servers, VMs and databases). From accidental deletions or formatting to clicking disks, water damaged or physically failing storage media, failed arrays and ransomware attacks on your machine, we will provide a complimentary diagnosis.

All engineering is performed in-house by our own engineers, and we do not send out work to outside contractors. This has been our policy since 2002.

Yes. Most of the time. We require a 50% deposit (up front) on all drive level repairs, and the remaining balance will only be collected if we are able to recover your lost data. In other words, if we cannot recover your lost data, you will not receive the remainder of the invoice. The free written quote that you receive prior to beginning any work outlines these details.

The cost is dependent upon the type of equipment or issue you are having; in general: memory card or USB stick faults start at £250 + VAT; hard drive or SSD failures start at £300 + VAT; RAID, NAS or server faults start at £500 + VAT. Each job starts off with a complimentary diagnostic and a fixed quote in writing; therefore you will always be aware of what our costs will be prior to commencement of work.
