// data recovery in sunderland

A city of docks and shipyards, now running on data.

Sunderland has an estimated population of approximately 170,000 people and the presence of the University of Sunderland, and Nissan’s car manufacturing facility and associated suppliers; plus software and the numerous public sector employers located there too. This creates a massive amount of data which could be disastrous if lost, e.g. university students’ final year dissertation and research, clients’ work, case files, business records etc., as well as family photo collections that were never backed-up when they should have been. It is usually stored on drives that will fail at some point in time.

The majority of failed devices contain perfect data. In nearly all instances the problem lies in the hardware or electronic components of the drive (heads, file system etc.) rather than the data. The only issue is safely retrieving the data. Our engineers have many years’ experience doing this on an almost daily basis. If you need to drop off your device, we are approximately 12 miles down the road from Sunderland (along the Quayside), however if you would prefer to use the postal service, then again there is nothing to stop you sending your device to us. We will cover the cost of returning your device.

Data recovery since 2002. Free diagnostic report (in writing), fixed price quotation prior to commencing any work, and in most cases you only pay if we recover your data.

Based on Tyneside, we are Newcastle Data Recovery. Approximately 12 miles down the A19, we have been recovering this type of data for Sunderland’s residents and business clients since 2002. All types of digital storage devices come to us, including hard disk drives, solid state disks (SSDs), memory stick/USB devices, SD cards/camera card media, Apple/Mac systems, laptop computers, RAID arrays, network attached storage (NAS) units, server systems and database systems, with each of these being processed in-house.

As we are local you can either drop your device off at our location in Newcastle or post it using a fully insured postal method. All of our work begins with a completely free written diagnostic followed by a fixed quote for the price of the work, and we can also prioritise many of your business-critical jobs. Also, in most cases you only pay if we recover your data.

// sending your device in

Two simple steps.

A free diagnostic can begin once you’ve shipped your device to us. Tell us a bit about how this issue occurred; an engineer will evaluate your device and provide a confirmed written estimate of costs prior to any work being performed.

1

Send us your device

Before you post or drop off your device, please get a quote from us by phone or with the form. Once we receive your device, our recovery process can start. Safely pack your device, include your name and contact information within the packaging and ship it to us. After performing your free diagnostic, we’ll send you a written confirmation of the exact price of our services prior to starting any work.

How to pack it
  • Place the unit into a small sturdy box or a well-padded envelope.
  • It is okay to remove caddies, cables and power supplies since they are not required during the recovery process.
  • Your contact information (name, address, phone number, and e-mail) should be included in the box along with a note that indicates who sent it or by using our shipping form; then close it.

Common questions from Sunderland.

We operate as an independent entity located on Tyneside. The address is approximately 12 miles along the A19, roughly a 25 minute drive from Sunderland. Since 2002 we have successfully retrieved lost data from Sunderland residents’ and commercial clients’ devices dropped-off at our Newcastle premises Monday to Friday, 9am to 5:30pm. Alternatively you may also send your device to us by post with full insurance cover.

Yes, that is a significant component of what we do. We recover RAID arrays, NAS devices, physical and virtual servers, and SQL and Exchange database files in-house; we do not outsource. In many cases business critical jobs can be given priority and when required we will document a chain of custody.

Whatever you want to do. Many Sunderland clients are able to drop their drive by; bring just the drive for laptops, NAS and servers, labelled. Or, if you prefer not to travel, post it in at your convenience fully insured and trackable. Either way you will receive a complimentary diagnostic and a fixed price prior to work being done.

All areas of Sunderland and surrounding locations including but not limited to: Sunderland City Centre, Roker, Seaburn, Houghton-le-Spring, Washington, Hetton and Silksworth. Pricing is the same whether you live in an urban or rural location within the region.

Normally we will recover data from most jobs in 3 to 4 working days, and normally complete the free diagnosis within 48 hours. Please note: as a rough guide our prices start from £250 + VAT for recovery of individual USB sticks and memory cards, from £300 + VAT for hard drives and solid state drives (SSDs) and from £500 + VAT for recovery of RAID, NAS and server systems etc.; however all quotes are fixed and provided in writing prior to commencement of work, and in most cases you only pay if we recover your data.
