We're not a national chain with a Tyne and Wear postcode — we're a Tyne and Wear data recovery company, based right in the city at Rotterdam House, recovering hard drives, SSDs, RAID arrays, NAS units and servers in-house for since 2002. Drop your device off in person, or post it in. Free diagnostic, no fix no fee on most jobs, and a written quote before any work begins.
Rotterdam House, central Tyne and Wear — open Monday to Friday for drop-offs, with insured post-in for everyone else.
Tyne and Wear has around 1.1 million people across five boroughs, Newcastle, Northumbria and Sunderland universities, and digital and games, offshore and subsea engineering, automotive at Nissan, and a very large professional-services base. Between them they generate a great deal of data that would be painful to lose — dissertations and research, client work and case files, business records, and the family photographs nobody thought to back up. It sits on drives that fail without warning.
Most failed drives still hold their data perfectly. The fault is almost always in the electronics, the heads or the file system — not in the data itself. It just needs lifting off safely, by people who do this every day. We are on the Quayside in Newcastle, so you can drop the device in or post it — whichever suits.
Recovering data since 2002. Free written diagnostic, a fixed quote before any work begins, and no fix, no fee on most jobs.
That's our job, and we've been doing it from Tyne and Wear for since 2002. Every recovery is carried out by our own engineers in-house and never outsourced to a third party — your data never leaves the UK. Hard drives, SSDs, USB sticks, camera cards, Macs, laptops, RAID arrays, NAS boxes, servers and databases all cross the bench.
Because we're local, you have a choice most national firms can't offer: drop your device off in person at our Tyne and Wear location, Monday to Friday, 9am to 5:30pm, or post it to us if that's easier. Either way, you get a free written diagnostic and a fixed quote first — and on most jobs, it's no fix, no fee.
From a single camera card to a multi-disk business array — each links to the detail.
Being local means you can hand your device to us in person and talk it through — or post it if that suits you better.
Tell us the device and what happened, and we'll give you a likely price before you come in.
Bring your device — or just the drive for laptops, NAS and servers — to our Tyne and Wear location Mon–Fri 9am–5:30pm, or post it to us fully insured.
We assess it, usually within 48 hours, and send a fixed quote before any work begins.
We recover, verify against a file listing, and you collect in person or we ship it back on fresh storage.
Drop-offs skip the post entirely. Urgent business cases can often be prioritised — just ask when you call.
Genuine client stories from our two-decade testimonial archive.
We had a Qnap Raid 5 eight disk system. Two of the hard disk failed, we replaced disks and attempted a rebuild. After rebuild completed system would not start. We had business critical accounts, SQL Database and Exchange Database on Qnap server. Tyne and Wear Data Recovery provided us with reassurance from the start that they could recover the data. They got the system in on Thursday and we downloaded the SQL and Exchange files from them on Sunday afternoon so all staff could work as normal on Monday. 1st class customer service.
Our iMac crashed, the only data we needed on iMac was our Baby’s photos. We took iMac to the Apple store in Eldon Square but they could not do anything. We searched online and came across yourselves. Service was honest, helpful and you delivered what you said you could deliver which was all my photos, Thanks You.
Two months ago I my Canon 2d Digital Camera fell and broke. The camera card seemed intact but when I connected it to my Macbook it did not read it. I took card into the Cribbs Causeway Jessops to get them to try and read pictures from card but they are could not read it on their photo machine. I was recommended to Tyne and Wear Data Recovery by Jessops. They got the data back of all photos on card, many thanks for your speedy service.
Send us your device for a free diagnostic, and tell us a little about what happened — an engineer will review it and confirm your exact quote in writing before any work begins.
Getting your data back begins with getting the device to us. Pack it up safely, pop your contact details inside, and send it over — once we’ve run the free diagnostic, we’ll confirm your exact price in writing before any work starts.
Posting it? A tracked, insured service is what we’d recommend. Rather drop it in? You’re welcome Monday to Friday, 9am to 5:30pm — just package the device up as above first.

Yes — that's one of the advantages of using a local Tyne and Wear company. Bring your device to our Tyne and Wear location Monday to Friday, 9am to 5:30pm. For laptops, NAS units and servers, take the drive or drives out first and bring just the drives, labelled. It's worth calling ahead so we can be ready for you and give you a likely price.
Effectively everything that stores data — hard drives, SSDs, USB sticks, SD and camera cards, Macs and MacBooks, Windows laptops and PCs, external drives, RAID arrays, NAS units, servers, virtual machines and databases. From accidental deletion and formatting to clicking drives, water damage, failed arrays and ransomware, it's worth a free diagnostic.
Everything is done in-house by our own engineers, and never outsourced to a third party. That's how we've kept a track record built since 2002.
On most jobs, yes. For drive-level repairs we take a 50% deposit upfront and the balance is only due if we recover your data — so if we can't, you're not left with the full bill. Your free written quote sets this out before any work starts.
It depends on the device and the fault, but as a guide: USB sticks and memory cards start from £250 + VAT, hard drives and SSDs from £300 + VAT, and RAID, NAS and servers from £500 + VAT. Every job opens with a free diagnostic and a fixed written quote, so you always know the price first.
Free written diagnostic, no fix no fee on most jobs, and over two decades of recovering the irreplaceable from the heart of the city. Drop it off at Rotterdam House, or post it in.
